Lockdown Blog – Dr Jarri Amini
I hope this post finds all of our patients at Eclipse, and their families, safe and well. The last 10 weeks have been a very strange time for us all. As a dentist, it has been difficult to be unable to provide you with the face-to-face care I have enjoyed over the last few years.
I miss the day-to-day hum of the practice; patients and staff coming together, not only to improve and maintain our dental health, but as a small hub of the community. A safe place, where familiar faces can catch up, and share a tale or two. We are doing everything we can to be back there once again, but will only be able to do so once it is safe for us all.
In the meantime, we have learnt to ADAPT our care. We have developed a 7-day emergency helpline, to meet the urgent needs of our patients. Whether it be through looking at photos of broken teeth to provide advice, sending out temporary dental materials, or providing remote prescriptions to the local pharmacy, we are trying our best to help. If you have a dental issue, please give us a call on our usual number.
Personally, I’ve been calling many of my patients to check their wellbeing, offer advice, and just generally chat about what they’re up to, or the challenges they may face at this time. So, whether it be collecting a prescription, or help with online shopping, it’s been my pleasure to help.
The silver lining of this Cov-id Cloud? Reconnecting, resetting, reinvigorating. I myself have been able to spend more time at home with my family. My wife Ambika, has been chuffed to have me around to help out while she’s on maternity leave. Our daughter Raina is now 7 months old, and I’ve been there for her first “words” (dada) and also to help her try her first foods.
I’ve been able to sit with my son Harris, 3 and help him to learn to read, as well as enjoying a kick about in the garden. (I’ve yet to teach him how to be a good loser though). So, whether it be “filling” holes with compost, or “extracting” roots from soil, I’ve managed to use my skills to make myself useful.
